Betsy Jack

Betsy Jack was hired as the Early Childhood Development (ECD) Director/Teacher in August 2004.

The ECD program has two preschool classes that meet at Red Bird Mission. Approximately 30 children receive a weekly home visit and come for classroom activities at one of the centers. Betsy works with three home visitors and another teacher to plan and implement a Christian curriculum throughout the school year.

When asked what she enjoys most about her service as ECD Director, she said, “Being in the classroom with the children is the best part of my job. I love working with the children.”

Betsy has been a Head Start teacher about 20 years, and has taught in Kentucky, Texas, and California. Betsy attended the University of Cincinnati. She has a degree in Early Childhood Education from Los Medanos College in Pittsburg, California as well as a Childhood Development Credential. Betsy was commissioned as a Home Missionary in 1987. Before teaching she did freelance artwork part time and worked in the local church with her husband.

Betsy is married to Chuck Jack, pastor of Jacks Creek United Methodist Church in the Red Bird Missionary Conference. They have 6 adult children. James, Ezra and Molly live in Kentucky. Annie and David live in California. Teddy is currently a college student in Kentucky. The Jack family has lived and served in southeastern Kentucky for over 20 years.

Commenting on life in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky, Betsy says, “We love the blessings, joys and opportunities we receive serving God in this place.”
