Clinic Custodian (Temporary)

Summary:

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness of the public areas of building Q54.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.  Clean building public hallways, waiting areas, and bathrooms according to schedule.  Work with supervisor to develop an appropriate schedule on an on-going basis.

Maintain a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) binder and update as necessary when different chemical products are used.  Inform supervisor of any changes in chemical inventory.

Empty wastebaskets and bring contents to dumpster.  Gather and remove trash boxes and bags set out for disposal.  Replace trash liners as necessary.  This includes outdoor trash receptacles around building.  Empty wastebaskets from private offices only if the receptacles are placed in the hallway.

Check and secure any unlocked exterior and interior doors and windows after all patients have left the clinic area (typically no later than 6:00 pm).  Only leave open the minimum number of interior doors necessary to complete your cleaning tasks.

At dusk, turn on all accessible exterior lights for the building.

Meet and greet visitors that arrive outside of normal working hours and direct them properly as required.  Direct guests’ rooms and answer questions as necessary.

Properly handle medical waste and store for proper disposal.  Work with supervisor to ensure that our medical waste contractor regularly removes the waste in our storage area (about every six months).
