Red Bird Mission is seeking an individual to be Coordinator for the Grow Appalachia Project.  This is a full-time position for 40 hours per week through September.   The position may be renewable depending upon the grant status.  Candidates must be able to work with minimal supervision and get along well with others.  Candidate must have general knowledge of vegetable gardening through experience.  Knowledge of sustainable horticultural practices and participatory community development preferred.  He/She must have a valid driver’s license and have a positive driving record.  Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check.  Ability to work proficiently with Microsoft Office preferred.  Must be able to utilize various hand and powered gardening equipment.

Job responsibilities include:  conducting home visits to assess resources needed, tilling and assisting homeowners with gardening, developing a community greenhouse and garden to be used in trainings, providing the community with fresh produce, organizing and coordinating trainings with UK Extension and other partners, and promoting the Red Bird Farmer’s Market.
